Our route begins at the Bykovskie Rapids. This artificial cascade on the Krasnoyarka River was once a waterfall. But why it "was"? Well, in the early 70s it was blown up for the spawning fish. The waterfall thus turned into low but quite picturesque rapids.
A huge rock, which played the role of a dam, now pleases tourists with its magnificent panoramic view. After all, a stunning view of the river and the surrounding scenery opens from this observation point.
Let's go further, to Cape Ostry, most widely known as "Ostromysovka". The cape, reminiscent of a sharp feather, juts deeply into the sea. Seals like to rest on its shores.
These charming sea animals are a real symbol of Sakhalin, and they love to spend time on the sharp stones of the cape.
